Building our legacy
Over the past two years, the company completed its transition to become a fully merged entity of BESIX Group and former CEO Jean-Pol Bouharmont was promoted to Executive Chairman of BESIX Watpac.
Mark Baker was appointed CEO in December 2021, after serving as CFO for 10 years. Mark continues to build the legacy of the business, focusing on operational excellence, delivering complex iconic projects, and developing our people and culture. In 2022, the company commenced work on the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge, was awarded the design and construct contract and commenced work on the Te Kaha multi-use arena in Christchurch and converted the early contractor engagement (ECI) into construction for a new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
The $350 million Seqirus 63,000 square metre greenfield facility, known as Project Banksia, is Victoria’s biggest project to date and will be the only cell-based influenza vaccine manufacturing facility in the southern hemisphere. Also in Victoria, the company is delivering Stage 5 of the GMHBA Stadium and commenced a joint venture with H.Troon in Ballarat to construct the $61 million St John of God Hospital redevelopment.
In New South Wales, BESIX Watpac is part of the Circular Quay Consortium (CQC) who have been selected by Transport for NSW to lead the planning and design for the new and improved Circular Quay precinct. The company is also delivering the Sydney Metro Barangaroo Station, Ferry Wharves upgrade program and revitalisation of Manly Cove.
